So is President Obama
really declaring war on Alaska oil? It
would seem so. Lisa Marcuski, and I
guess that’s the one who’s up there, states that the President has set his mind
to take apart the oil industry in Alaska piece by piece, almost as if part of
some vendetta. I hope I don’t have to
now apologise to the “2016” people for getting it right after all. Is it true for instance that President Obama
will negotiate with Iran, but he won’t negotiate with Alaska. We already have an Alaska pipeline that will
hold more oil than it’s carrying. We don’t
have to build a new one. The whole
battle is over ANWR, or most people just say ANWAR. This is oil that is on some sort of reserve
but it’s always been a gray area. Now
ALL of that oil is taken off line by a decision of the President today plus
other oil in a more established government reserve is made difficult if not
impossible to get to. Contrary to what
you might think- - - I am not against all new energy development in North
America. It almost strikes me that here
the President is striking out against conservative Republicans in Alaska. It’s kind of like with the Greek thing with
the EEC. The people are asking for a
life floatie, and getting one made out of lead. My motive in supporting Alaska oil is not altogether
altruistic. I know that this will drive
the price down further- - and therefore make more dangerous types of oil such
as the tar sands and natural gas fracking- - less economically feasible, so
they’ll do less of these things.
Today is asteroid
fly-by day, but the asteroid is a tiny one, only a third of a mile across. They
are showing the trailer to “Three and a Half Minutes” for the shooting death of
Jordan Davis, who was gunned down in a hail of bullets because the car was
playing their rap music too loud. Unfortunately
the movie is only being aired at the Sundance Festival in Park City Utah. Meanwhile,
this one guy was sentenced to one thousand lashes given in shifts of fifty - -
for writing unflattering articles about Islam.
Human rights groups around the world are protesting. The Dow Jones Industrials is at about 17655
right now. Someone wanted to know about “That
yellow book over your left shoulder” the “Crash of 2016”. I am reaffirming my admonition to sell your
stocks that I first gave the evening of January 14th of this
year. Since then the markets have
trended up ever so slightly but largely flat.
There is no time like the present to do what you should. This economy I now believe is doomed. Greece has with the election of their new
leader, opted to throw off the shackles of regulation by the European Economic
Community. Now let us only hope that
others will “respect” Greek sovereignty.
Bernie Sanders praised the election results. There are riots in Egypt by Muslim
Brotherhood rebels in the four year commemoration of the short victory of “Arab
Spring” in late January 2011. President
Acicci (?) came to power in a military coup with the support of the Egyptian
people who celebrated the development. My
sympathies are with the government authorities on this one.
Thom
Hartman again affirmed that if the Greeks went back to the drachma, they’d be
going a whole lot of tourism. Even on
the international scene there are people who profit if Greece completely goes
belly up. Greece was ordered by the
EEC (and people like Judy who side with greedy corporate bankers) that if
Greece slashed social services and government pay but did NOT levy new taxes on
their rich, then the “confidence fairy” of the private sector would move in and
the economy would explode. This didn’t
happen. Greece’s GNP collapsed and
unemployment ballooned to 25%. As you
know I have been pretty gung ho on the government policy of supporting Ukraine
against Russian rebels in the east.
However Bones has been strangely silent on this subject for months, even
though I have mentioned the topic a time or two. However most of the so called “on the spot
news” is NOT from any Ukrainian city but rather “Moscow beauro” reporters who
get military briefings from Kiev and report them in the NY Times and in the
Washington Post as though they were factual.
But in reality it’s looking like our government and Russia in just
another proxy fight in a puppet nation’s Civil War, just like Viet Nam. I am reassessing my whole position now.
President Obama has
been in India these past two days and will be leaving tomorrow for Saudi Arabia
to pay his respects to King Solmon, the new leader of Arabia. King Abdula died last week at age ninety and
his half brother (?) is but s spry 79 year old. Of course everybody is making a
big thing out of the US former “good relation” with Yemen, which is news to me
because I thought they were the chief source of Al Qaeda terrorism. But now that government is overthrown by
rebels who hate Al Qaeda and now people on the right are saying what a horrible
thing it is- - and how somehow it’s all Obama’s fault. President Obama will not be going to Agra to
see the Taj Mahall - - but did throw rose petals on the grave of Gandhi as part
of a religious ceremony. I hope readers
are not too “put off’ by my bad spelling.
Meanwhile here in New York a lot closer- - they are predicting the worst
major blizzard since at least Hurricane Sandy, perhaps ever. They say there’ll be three feet of snow,
which wouldn’t be bad if you were in Buffalo but in a city like New York “there
are only so many places to put it”. Now
there is some new commercially available drone craft that was flying over the
White House and the secret service is investigating the source of this
unauthorized flight. They said this was
the fourth violation of the White House “no fly zone” in the past few weeks.
We might as well acknowledge that Japanese journalist who was beheaded last week by ISIS. He was one of the good guys who just wanted to understand the story and put out whatever the Truth was. I think as of pretty soon the President will yield to pressure to put "Boots on the Ground" and this might be a nice way of making John Mc Cain and Lindsey Graham happy. "American Sniper" scored number one at the Box Office last weekend again, grossing 64 million dollars. I wonder how many clams that is? As you may or may not
know “American Sniper” got John Lennon’s condemnation in a statement a week
ago. He called it “pornographic violence”. However I am only today piecing together the
pieces I’ve learned about the movie in my mind to try and form an opinion about
it. On the Stephanie Miller show it is
agreed that this movie leaves out a lot of key facts about the Iraq War- - and
it’s almost as though George Bush had nothing to do with it.
