It's kind of funny the phrases that go out of style with the passing years. It used to be that we constantly heard regarding Iraq that we were in "The last throws of the insergency". I guess you could liken it to disciplining a three year old and then the kid throws a tantrum trying to bend you to his will or "raising the price of poker", as Dr. Phill put it. We were to believe that Iraq was "throwing a tantrum" with all these insergency attacks, but that it wasn't a sign that what we were doing was wrong but rather a sign of weakness and desperation. Nobody has been using that "last throws" argument with over a hundred Iraqi civilians dying every week. Now they speak of it as a "low grade" civil war. Back in the fall of 1993 I complained of a "low grade" fever. I had contracted hepatitus and I didn't know it. "Low grade" is one of those euphamisums that means little. We are now in a Civil War in Iraq and not in the "last throws" of anything. Back in the 1970s there were those in the Christian community who were saying that what we were seeing in society thirty years ago were the "last throws of a Satanic attack". I've been talking about the year 1967. This week in 1967 things were rappidly getting worse in terms of relations with one, if not both of my brothers. Was I experiancing the "last throws" of problems with my brother? Then how come the following week was even worse? Now they are saying that we'll have to partition Iraq into Suni and Shiite segments, and maybe let the Kurds be independant, too. We were told it didn't matter that our whole US intervention had the effect of supporting the "minority" Shiites because they wern't Iranian shiites but deep down when push came to shove, they were Iraqi nationalists first and Shiites second and there was no danger of their forming a grand alliance with Iranian shiites. Well- - - that's another argument you are no longer hearing. You also used to hear "Basically Shiite and Suni are perfectly able to get along with each other in a new era of peace and democracy". There were those who said "When others see democracy in Iraq and how wonderful it is they will abandon all of their Arab hostility and work for peace and prosperity of their own country. This is of course before Hammas won the election in Palestine. We have learned that the Sunis who live in Syria are a minority type of Suni called "allowite" or something. We apparently now now that Al Quada was alligned with the old bathists Sunis in Iraq. According to O Riley, Sunis and Al Quada will war with Shiites and the Shiites will defeate Al Quada and Suni. Thence the Al Quada party will retire to Afghanastan or something "to attack the US another day" and the Sunis will form a grand alliance with Syria and Iran and from there Iran will be free to blackmail China for nuclear favors- - and in general the price of oil will skyrocket.
We haven't even talked about Lebanon yet. According to Randy Rhodes, the U S has been planning some grand world war since 1996. In that year the blueprint was hatched to take out Saddam Hussein and invade Iraq. This whole Lebanon incursion, if you believe Randy, is really a part of OUR overall strategy, as much as it is Isrial to cause war, famine, and hardship for as many people as possible. Jesus tought "Blessed are the peace makers". But Congalisa Rice is obviously working off another play book. She definitely wants "something" to happen before we intervene in anything. Randy has been saying that this Lebanon invasion thing is just a precurser to all out war between the United States and this alliance between Syria, Iran, and with Iraq "providing a place for the Shiites to flee to from Iran once the bombs start falling". In terms of the morality of what Isrial is doing the rationalization gets thinner every day. They have knocked out eighty percent of Lebonese highways and ninety percent of their bridges. Business men are not safe because Banks are being bombed because they are suspected of giving aid to Hez Ballah. Apparently all sorts of banks are giving aid to Hez Ballah. I suppose even if the scenario is as Randy Rhodes says, what is the hoped for outcome? I haven't a clue except it will boost war profits for people like Dick Chaney. 2007 has been a year long on my psychic radar screen. For over three decades I've been expecting "something major" to happen this year. Now it looks as it "something" will happen in 2007.
People may ask me, "Marcus, have you changed or has conservatisum changed?" and I would say without hesitation that conservatisum has changed. I was just rereading "The Way Things Out to Be" by Rush Limbaugh. Many of the sentaments in that book I can still agree with. We need to talk about abstenance as a viable alternative to indescriminent sexual intercourse in our schools. The trouble is now they have run scientific studies that show abstenance training doesn't work but ironically results in more abortions because the parties don't use birth control. The same goes for these abstenance pins people wear. In terms of the idea of Rush having free speech- - I'm all for that. Rush says there was a conspiracy against his successfully getting his book published. We all want "ballance" on the air waves. The thing is when Rush started out he was a lone wolf. Now it's hard to find on AM radio a talk show host that isn't a member of the hard right, and by that I mean those who attack George Bush from the Right. Bush's problem is he doesn't hate Mexicans and other minorities Enough to please these people. Now Rush is doing this "wah wah" thing saying that Americans suddenly trapped in a war zone in Lebanon are a bunch of whiners. As if anyone could have forseen this war. It may have been in planning for five years but Americans visiting their grand parents, or Leboneze businessmen and developers sure didn't know that. The ironic thing is that liberals are worried whether or not they will be able to take over even one house of congress. They point to the superior grass roots organization among Republicans. Bush uses things like faith based initiative to give to churches in Ohio and tells them to preach to the right- - and all this funding shows up in votes on election day. Also the vocabulary has been tainted by right wing thinking. "Liberal" is a bad word. People on the right "know how to speak in sound bites" whereas people on the left are more inclined to look at the whole problem and give a much longer-winded explanation of their views.
To shift gears now- - on Nova a week or so ago they had "The theory behind everything". There are those who promote the "string" theory of matter as a way of explaining the Universe on both a micro scale and a macro scale. On the BIG scale- - gravity and Einstein's general theory of relativity explains most of the phenomina we see. Gravity is really just "warped space" where "warped space" itself remains an undefined term. On the micro scale we see things like quirks and pions and mezzons and neutrinos dominating the scene. On this level space and time aren't necessarily a necessary comodity. You may pinpoint Where an election is but not When you see it, or you may pinpoint a When point, but as to the "where" that's a mystory. There are three forces in this micro realm. The "strong force" that holds atomic particles together, the electromagnetic fource, and finally the "weak" or radioactive force of half life decay. The string theory proposes to bind all fources together in a single theory. They finally came up with an equation that actially worked in 1984 and "4096" is some kind of a key number. These "strings" are very tiny, unlike what the Federation talks about where cosmically large strings are in vogue. These tiny strings vibrate in six New dimensions, so that in reality there are ten dimensions with Time as a dimension. Of course the whole problem with this "strings" theory is that there is apparently no way we'll be able to prove it. Just as there is no way of proving Christianity till we're all dead, and if it turns out (as I darkly suspect) that there IS no afterlife, then we will Never see Christianity validated. People say because this strings theory isn't either provable or disprovable, it isn't truely science, just as the declarations of the Bible aren't science because they can never be either proven or disproven. Apparently now there are five sub-varieties of this "strings" theory and all five are incompatable, and may allude to the contents of five different Universes, none of which may be the one we live in.
Now Gov. Swartzenegger has regained a lead over Phill Angeletes. That's good. I think Phill could use a fresh coat of Green paint, if you know what I mean. In terms of Joe Lieberman and Ned Le Mont- - - Le Mont used to be way behind but now has moved ahead and it's ex President Bill Clinton to the rescue to recessitate Joe's poll numbers. The whole Iraq war thing looks so bad though, the wheels are coming off the wagon. Even government leaders in Iraq are saying things that America doesn't like to hear. Conservatives have been saying for three months that we should set our sites on Iran. Unfortunately because of the fact that we HAVE intervened in Iraq, taking on Iran is much more difficult than it otherwise would have been, both because our troops are all tied up, or tied down, as the case may be, and also because of that vast resavuar of Shiites in Iraq ready to lend Iranians moral support.
