Perhaps it's a comon story circulated in the navy but there was this ship sailing in the night and the first liutennant or whoever said there was another ship headed straight for us. So the Admeral gets on the radio and says to the other ship. "We are on a mission of extreme military importance, change course". The response he got was "Your ship is now in grave danger. Change course". And the Admeral responds, "This is a three star admeral. Change course". And the other guy responds, "this is a 2nd. liutennant. Change course". And the Admeral responds, "This is a battleship, change course". The other guy responds "This is a lighthouse. Change course. We have heard that the era of the battleship, metaphorically or otherwise is over. According to Mark Campbell, "ships" on a sea represent organized religion on terra ferma. They said that in World War II the battleship became obsolete during the War. The Japanese tought us a valuable lesson at Pearl Harbor how much damage aircraft could do. It would seem that in the following months the allies continued to lose ground in the Pacific. Then at the battle of Midway in June of 1942, we outsmarted the Japanese by luring them into a trap. Apparently we wern't sure that "A F" meant Midway but we lured them into some conversation where they confirmed that themselves. Apparently we wiped out their whole air fource in that battle. Dozens of planes were lost and from then on there was a steady but certain tide of victory. But tword the end of the war they brought in their "secreat weapon" the battleship Yamato, which promptly got sunk in its first battle engagements. Apparently guns, no matter how massive they are, are no match for aircraft, so the aircraft carrier became the coming thing. I think there is a metaphysical application here. Marcus and I are always doing "philosophical combat". I think perhaps we declared a truce this morning. Yesterday Marcus left the chess game we were playing afraid that I had some secret plan to wipe him out. I think whether it be a war of words or of weapons, we are always "fighting the last war". Marcus said this morning that all politics is really irrelivant when you think about it. Many of the struggles mankind is going through on planet earth such as global warming, are issues that transcend mere democratic or republican politics. Religion has this fantassy of this ultimate "Battle" that's fought with heavenly horsemen and heavenly swords on a conventional battle ground. And yet it was the Apostle Paul himself who said "We battle not against flesh and blood but spiritual principalities and authorities". Like World War II the key to the battle is "in the air" rather than in the physical battle of human beings here on the ground. We we alluded to a month or so back there are three realms we have to be cognizant of. The first is that "Egyptian pallace" we alluded to on the last file where God "lives" and is secure from all evil. The next realm is what the Apostle Paul alternatly calls "The powers of the air" or "the heavenlies". This is the area where angels and demons to battle and some say the outcome of the battles here determans the fats of us humans on terra ferma, just as the inferioritity of Japan's air fource determined the fate of their losing battle ship battles on the ground. Edwin was talking about three dimensional chess and how they actually have tripple decker chess games just like Star Trek. I'd be curious to play such a game. Obviously certain factors such as players being "bottled up" would be less relivent but other factors would be more relivant. I guess what Political pundants have to ask themselves now is not "Who has raised the most money" but "Who is winning the Battle of the Air" and I refer to that psychic dimension. Even Marcus will admit Mc Cain has his good points. But Mc Cain, no matter what the outcome of the Iraq War, seems to be the loser already in the "War of the psyches". Ordenary battleship to battleship combat became obsolete sometime during the course of World War II. It's the "Battle of the air" or "The battle of the heavenlys" or battle in the psychic dimension that counts. Like three dimensional chess you have to learn to think in an added dimension you've never thought in before. If we may reverse Jesus' words to St. Peter, "Whatever goes on in heaven will dictate what happens on earth".
I just heard this is the coldest April in 113 years. Actually there isn't much going on right now. Some may say this blog is "filler material". I guess it's one of those "canned sermons" that preachers use where is nothing in the Newspaper headlines to draw from. I don't know the future. There may be an exciting story just around the corner and if there is I'll write on that subject. But today is not that day. We're stuck with the same recycled stories as follows:
The father of Anna Nicole’s baby girl has been determined at last. It’s that blonde haired Larry guy and not Howard K. Stern. But these two are going to team together to work to insure that Anna Nicole’s mother doesn’t get custody of the daughter in Texas.
The rape charges of the lacross team at Duke have finally been dismissed. The D A pronounced all three defendants completely innocent and legal action may be taken against him but no legal action is contemplated against the woman bringing charges.
The tours of duty of US troops going to Iraq had been universally extended fron one year to fifteen months for everybody except Marines and the National Guard. This is a sure sign of desperation of the Bush team. They expect the surge to last well over a year. They are predicting cooler weather here but it’s been quite temperate here.
The State legislature is contemplating a law to require the universal spaying and neutering of all dogs and cats who aren’t either police or guard dogs or professional breeders to pay a hundred dollar fee. The fine will be five hundred. I think this law is an absurd intrusion into the rights of private citizens what they can do with their own property. Of course they want those police dogs in primed biting mode.
Police chief Parker was really a died in the wool bigot according to Randy Rhodes. He went so far as to import cops from the most bigoted police departments to insure that those Negroes who moved out here got the “proper treatement”.
I had psychic Sylvia Brown on again on Montell Williams. This week she predicted that US troops in Iraq would be coming home this year rather than in 2008 or 2009. That’s good news. The only question is how. Whoever puts on the show wants to show her as always right and there were indications today’s show was a rerun so they could easily have done a little snip snip if they had wanted to expunge any flaw on her otherwise perfect readings. She seems to be a regular Wednesday fixture. She said that the “veil” between the living and the dead has gotten thinner over the decades.
In soap land the death of E J Wells appears to be a long way off. Patch had every chance to kill him and chose not to. Talk about temptation. If you’re already in a psycho ward what better chance to cop a plea of insanity? I don’t know HOW Sammy can possibly succeed with her set the cabin on fire plan tomorrow but we know THAT the plan will be a success because she’s marrying Lucas. We know that and this could not possibly happen now with E J still around. Passions is getting sillier by the day from that drop the weight on Whitney’s head ploy of Vince to this farce of a trial which has begun that breaks so many legal precedents it would take a hundred pounds of legal papers to chronicle them all Of course Jessica is pregnant and I don’t understand that, with all the John’s she’s had sex with, she’ll really keep Maurie Povitch busy.
Another coyote has ventured into an urban area but this one’s life will be spared. The humane society stepped in to relocate the animal. I think coyote's are kind of cute.
President Bush wants to create the position of “War Tsar” now. This position is some level higher than cabinet that reports directly to the President and it’s yet to be determined just how this proposed official will be chosen. Will it bypass a senate vote? The job will be to oversee both the Iraq war and the war in Afghanistan.
I watched Jim Lerr tonight. They had the genocide in Darfore. Now the violence of that terrorist group has spread westward into Chad where the slaughter and the burning of villages goes on. There is talk of sending in a UN force but they keep putting off making any decision. Sen. Joe Byden wants to send in the military. People think the Bush administration is dragging its feet. There was a segment on the John Mc Cain campaign. Then they talked about the danger of cell phone GPS which they have now and they’re selling to ordinary customers. Some want to make it available for just their delivery employees and they promise that information will be deleted from its records as soon as it’s been specifically used. But others fear they could sell the information to either police or tax authorities or else sell the information to other businesses to use for their own natharious purposes. A jealous stalker could even get hold of it and a divorced wife might be stalked by an estranged husband. Finally they had a segment on the cardon “offset” tax. If you do things like buy a share of a tree forest you get positive credits for saving the CO2 but if you burn too much fossil fuel you get taxed. They say the tax is calibrated to be revenue neutral. It sounds like an interesting idea.
