Nothing to Offer but Fear Itself

The Bush administration has nothing to offer but fear itself. This administration was headed nowhere till 9 – 11 gave them a “Reson Det” or whatever, reason for being. It’s their one winning issue. If a congressional bill is coming up soon, just have an anthrax scare on a key congressman. Bin Laden saved the election for George Bush in that critically timed Video tape just days before the 2004 election. Now in this latest case we have a manic-depressive “with a Vodka buzz” and a screw driver that wasn’t there and letters to Bin Laden that didn’t exist and some alleged Vaseline. We’re heard further gloomy news saying that only five or six senate races this year are “competitive” and so that the Democrats will have to “run the table” in order to control the senate, and even taking back the House won’t be that eaxy, these “experts” say. I disagree with them. I think there is a groundswell that these petty statistics can’t stop. That said I have no doubt some other “terrorist event” is going to be trumped up in the coming weeks to try and keep the Bush majority intact. He knows the minute he loses the majority in even one house they’re going to be facing investigations of all sorts of topics that have up to now been shoved under the rug, and among these are possible Impeachment.

August 18^th. is the 44^th. anniversary of Ringo joining the Beatles playing for the first time at the Cavern club on Saturday August 18^th. 1962. The crowd was apparently shouting “Pete Forever – Ringo Never” but Ringo won them over. The song they were playing on the British news film was “Some Other Guy”.

Mafia guys learn to live with threats on their lives all the time. My philosophy is if you’re going to live with a threat you might as well be morally on the side of good because if you’re not you may lose your life AND your karma. I believe this is what is meant by “Eternal Life”. Not that life lasts in eternity but that you are making a positive stand for eternity in eternity. I’d hate to think this coming election is going to be decided on who can play The Fear Game the best. The thing is anytime a Democrat talks about National Security he can easily be accused of playing the “Me, to” game. Somebody somewhere is going to have to take on this whole notion of living in constant fear, and if we have 135,000 troops in Iraq that will somehow make us Safer. If Isrial could remove a terror threat by being allowed to fight Hez Ballah two more weeks I’d be the first to say, “Go for it”. I don’t think that’s possible. Somewhere along the line someone is going to have to point out that the effect of Bush’s foreign policy has been to make Iraq and the Mideast a more dangerous place. Democrats need to drive this point home hard. I suppose many would say “Why don’t all these terrorists just give up”. Well, they are more used to living with fear than we are. This is a reality we Westerners just can’t deny. We value human life more than they do. As such they are always going to have the edge on a conflict. Mideasterners live their whole lives in a state of unsettledness we Westerners have trouble imagining. They, in short, are willing to risk a lot more for their god than we are for ours. And that’s the long and short of it.

This whole Jean Benet Ramsey case is beginning to smell like phoney bologna. This John Mark Car fellow was arrested in Thailand and was into child porn. We know he followed the Ramsey case, but I believe that’s as far as it went. He confessed just for the publicity. He is refusing to answer hard question. The fact that he knows a few facts most people don’t is probably because he has studied the case obsessively. His wife says he was with her that Christmas when the murders are supposed to have been committed. Ramsey’s father says he’s never met the man, and there is no record of John Car ever being in Boulder. Besides that he says he drugged the girl and no drugs were found in Jean Benet’s system. The murder couldn’t be accidental because of the very violent way in which she was murdered with bludgeoning and a rope and all. I still suspect one or both of the parents myself. This case still isn’t solved.

Well now it’s official. George Bush has official heard from a National Court on this whole wire tapping thing. They have said it is unquestionably illegal and violates both the fourth and the first amendments. But that isn’t stopping them. They are apparently going to defy the ruling and have spokesmen out defending their position.

There are children who are like LSD aware all the time. Many people hear music as colors or smell sounds. Now there are people with a specific medical disorder who see specific numbers and letters as certain colors all the time such that they can detect a shape made by these numbers in a cluster of other numbers and can pick them out far faster than most “normal” people. It’s like they have some kind of mental DSL.

This whole airport scanning thing is really violating people’s rights. Now they are going to scan everyone for explosives on a machine that can see right through your clothing. It doesn’t make a difference if you’re a man or a woman and they plan to even expose your kids to it. This is a violation of privacy the courts must deal with.

Well, you saw this next one coming. They are finally thankfully going to crack down on these corporate pension funds that are underfunded. They are going to pass a law setting regulations. Conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh and Larry Elder have whined about how a major expense of corporations now is in funding pension funds and wouldn’t it just be nice if we could eliminate they. The working man and woman has been screwed over for the last time. It will still be legal to yank a pension fund that’s been paid into but just perhaps now the excuse of financing won’t be used as much.

They say the grain of the Gods is ground slowly but exceedingly fine. It is also said that the dice of the Gods are loaded. It is also said that it is pleasing to the Gods to see a man honored by his enemies. How much of these three things is governed by karma? It is said "Life isn't fair- - - but God is". I guess what we're all wondering if there is some gigantic cosmic "Evening of the score" somewhere down the line. What we do seem to know is that Evil people seem to live in fear a lot more than good people do. It is also said that courage is the one trait that Satan can't synthisize, but wishes he could. Fred Price has announced that one day he decided not to live in fear of planes crashing because he knew God would protect him. But by way of warming Fred says one should never give admittance to the devil even in your speech. Pete Richards one day a few days before Halloween 1975 in saying a prayer thanking God for everything he had, but adding "Lord, if you want to take this all away from me if it gives you glory than so be it". A few days later his wife left him. It would seem that you can "give admittance to evil" even by your speech. Sometimes I hesitate to pray things I'm even worried about because I have seem all too often Satan overhears those prayers and intercepts them and uses them to his ends. I don't think it's healthy to live in fear. Some people live in fear of being mugged. If you're afraid of something like flying I guess the best way to rid yourself of that fear is to actually fly on an airplane and prove to yourself it's no big deal. Many people live in fear of cancer and disease. Dennis Prager said once that only one third of the people who smoke cigarettes are adversely affected in their health by cigarettes. That means two thirds aren't. If so this is "The Big Truth" that is being covered up by anti smokers. Smoking is forbidden so many places now because people have this unreasoned fear of 2nd. hand smoke affecting their children playing in a park, for instance. There is something to be said for living in the moment. Now the new therapy for prostate cancer is to watch and perhaps do nothing. The cancer in that area is so slow growing you'll die of something else before the cencer gets to you. If I were a woman and had a lump in my breast and the choice were to do nothing or have a breast removed and then undergo months of chemotherapy and have all my hair fall out- - I think I just might opt to do nothing. Linda Mc Cartney went through the whole surgery rout and she still ended up dead. I know that were I to have prostate cancer I'd face the high probability of lifeling impotence and perhaps incontenance. That doesn't appeal to me. People who invest in burgelar alarms and locks and cameras and such to me are living in fear. I suppose I am biased because I have never been robbed - not in the way they're talking about. Fear seems to have an addictive quality. The more you do to guard yourself against fear the more you still desire to do because the steps you've taken never seem to be enough. In the Bible sex is spoken of the way most people think about war, at least as interperated by Christians. Most people see War as something to be avoided unless it is absolutely necessary, and if you have a chance to avoid war you are sinning if you don't take that opening for peace. Christians would have you believe if you have sex once you'll die of AIDS. You could die from not having sex. Because you might end up never getting married- - and single people die at an earlier age than married people. Fear of eternal damnation in Hell is of course a major driving factor in people deciding to become Born Again Christians. You don't know what is on the other side of the Veil of Death. It is accordingly true that there is no way to insure against it, whatever it is. The way to have the "Abundant life" spoken of in the Bible is not to live with fears of things and situations that will probably never happen. What we do know is that life and "Now" is happening all the time, all around us. And I think it's best to focus on things you have control of here and now.
